Textile And Acrylic

The main concept of this piece is based on the vulnerability of the individual or the conflict between self-expression and the expectations of society.

The cardboard box that covers the head symbolizes self-concealment, or it can also mean the hiding of feelings from the world. The branches coming out of the box signify growth, hope, or an aspiration for relationships. They might even exemplify the individual's potential. The kneeling position, combined with the nakedness, can be a sign of the person's vulnerability, or alternatively, self-confidence and self-control. It might even evoke an individual with a burden who seeks solace from others. The crimson background stirs a sense of anger, resistance, and urgency, which in turn gives the whole theme a poignance.

The overall tone of the painting can be attributed to a figure, whose head is covered by the box, striving between identity and truth. The branch coming out of the box looks as if the head underneath is sprouting through the holes, representing hope, growth, and nostalgia.
